Billy is the third born in the family of four children: Clifford (2006) is the oldest, Belinder (2008), Joshua (2014) is the youngest. Father who was the only family bread winner was jailed because he defiled his own daughter and will only be released in 2030.The father is also a drunkard and after drinking he usually beated the mother and children and chase them away from home forcing them to find a place for sleeping. Now the children are under the care of their mother who only sells tomatoes along the road in-order to provide for the family basic needs. The income the mother gets from her business/work is very little (average monthly net income 1600 KES). The first and last born child in the family is having sickle anemia. They live in a mud house which belongs to family. There are five dependents in the family; the house has two rooms. They use firewood for cooking, Kerosene/Solar for lighting, get water from lake. Billy is doing well health wise at present. Billy likes reading story books, playing football. Billy likes Science, Agriculture and Home science. Billy would like to be an electrician after school. because of a very bad situation from 2024 he should move to the orphanage and start studying 6th grade at Island of Hope Humanist School. She starts fishing in the night on other peoples nets to earn some money. Due to bad weather and many fishermen fishing and also use of undersized nets, the catch of fish in the lake has reduced making Solomon's mother income little.The family situation is very bad and therefore in 2022 Solomon was taken to Orphanage at Island of Hope. Brighton is the second born in the family of two children (sibling Christine, born 2007). Father who was the sole breadwinner died leaving them with their mother who later on disappeared. Because of this Brighton was taken by his aunt. The aunt lost her job as an instructor in a driving school because of her poor health. The Aunt also has her own children to feed and take to school. The living condition of the family is very bad and therefore Brighton was taken to orphanage in our community centre Island of Hope in January 2020. He likes mathematics, religion, science and kiswahili. He would like to be a teacher at the end of his studies. Brighton also likes playing football. Nicolas is the youngest in the family of four children. He has older brother Jupiter (2000), sister Janet (2002) and brother Fred (2004). His father died so he is living with her mother who is a cleaning lady. The income of the family gets very little and cannot fully support all children in their education and also to provide other basic needs in their life. They have around 2.000 KES/ 20 EUR per month. The family lives in a one semi –permanent (iron sheet, timber) room that is rented. They use charcoal stove for cooking, electricity for lighting and they get water from a bore hole. Nicolas is healthy and he is doing well at the present. In January 2024 he supposed to start high schooll. Because of the financial crisis in the family Nicolas sometimes stays at home due to the lack of school fees. That is why we decided to put him into our programme that he does not have to leave the school. He needs support of 5.600 CZK/220 EUR per term.

Trizah was born in 2009 and has an older brother Trevy (2005). Her mother ran away from the family because her husband was very violent and left the children with their grandmother. The grandmother is a widow and sells grain to support the family. However, her income is very low, at about Ksh 600/month (€6). The family lives in a mud house with two rooms. They use charcoal and wood for cooking and get water from a nearby lake. They use kerosene lamps for lighting. The problem is that the abusive father lives in the house with them. Trizah in early 2024 could no longer stand the situation and ran away from home to look for her mother, unfortunately she found out that she had already died. Desperate, she therefore came to our community centre asking to stay at the orphanage. She is very afraid of her dad and is not safe where he is. The grandmother confirmed that it is not in her power to protect the girl. Brother Trevy goes to a public high school. Years ago, his father mutilated him by burning both his hands. The father was in prison for that for several years, but now he is back and unfortunately continues his horrible behavior. Trizah is in the 8th grade at Hope Island Primary School. She needs support of 1.400 CZK/55 EUR/month (16.800 CZK/660 EUR/year). Trizah's hobbies include dancing, singing and football.

After the death of the father, the mother ended up working as a bar maid and the income she gets is very little to provide the basic needs in life to the family. The mother sometimes end up selling her body in exchange of money in order to feed the children. Five people live in a one room rental mud house. They use charcoal for cooking, kerosene for lighting and they gets water from a river. Velma is doing well health wise at present. Because of the living conditions at home she join an orphanage at Island of Hope. In 2024, she should be attending grade 1 at Island of Hope Humanist Mixed Boarding School. Fidel is the first born in the family of three children. The father who was the only family breadwinner died and the mother is not able to take care of the children. Because of this, Fidel was taken by his grandparents who are very old and survives from the hands of well-wishers. The siblings Fabian Odhiambo Benard and Jerry Calmax Benard (in 2023 they are 15 and 13 years old) were taken by their aunt who sells second hand clothes along the street in one of the slums in Nairobi. Fidel and his grandparents lived in a two roomed mud house which belongs to them. They get water from the lake, uses firewood for cooking and Kerosene lamp/Solar mall for lighting. Fidel is healthy at the moment except the occasional malaria. Due to the very difficult family situation Fidel was placed in the orphanage "Island of Hope" on the Rusinga Island, where he found new home and start going to school. Wilson, Marry and Margrey stay with mother. Elijah was taken in by their aunt. Michael and William decided to stay with their father and help him because he suffers from sickling and cannot work. Due to this they depend most of the time on the help of their neighbours. The older brother was forced to drop out of school to drop out of school to involve in fishing to care for William and the father. The family of three live in a mud house that has two rooms. They use firewood for cooking and receive water from the lake nearby. For lighting they use solar powered lights. This home is falling apart due to the condition it is in. Aside from all the problems at home, William enjoys going to school. His favourite subjects are science, english and mathematics. He hopes to become a pilot one day. Some of his hobbies include playing football and reading. From May 2022 William was in the orphanage and in 2024 he should join Form 2 at Island of Hope Humanist Secondary school. They use firewood for cooking, kerosine for lighting and gets water from borehole. Robinson is doing fine, his health is good. In 2023 he started 3rd year of high school Island of Hope Humanist Mixed Boarding School but at the moment he lost hissponsor. The fee enabeling him to continue attending the high school is 5600Kč/220 EUR per term. In 2024, he should be attending grade 4 at Island of Hope Humanist Mixed Boarding School. He needs support of 1.400 CZK/55 EUR/month (16.800 CZK/660 EUR/year).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
